Crime Stoppers donates body cameras for Janesville officers

Posted:

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police will soon have a new tool in the field to help with investigations.

Janesville Area Crime Stoppers donated $6,600 to the department to purchase body cameras for police officers. Police will wear the cameras when out in the community and on the street, capturing live video as incidents occur.

Police say the new cameras, which will replace out of date video cameras, will be an important tool to help with evidence gathering and training.

The department is expected to have the cameras in service in early 2014.
