MADISON – After collecting her second career hat trick last weekend against Bemidji State, senior Madison Packer has been named WCHA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Packer and Minnesota's Rachael Bona took home the weekly honor this week as both players tallied hat tricks in their league games last weekend. This marks the second straight week Packer has earned offensive honors from the conference, and the fourth time in her career she has earned a WCHA weekly award.
Packer had a career weekend for the No. 2 Badgers with four goals and two assists as they swept league rival Bemidji State to close out the first half of the season. In a 7-2 UW win last Friday, Packer tallied her second collegiate hat trick and the first-ever hat trick in LaBahn Arena. She then tallied three points, including an assist on the game-winner, in a 5-0 shutout win Sunday, extending UW's nation-leading unbeaten streak to 14. She also had nine shots on goal in the series and was +2.
On the season Packer has 16 points, nine of which have come in the past two weeks.
With her 97 career points, Packer ranks 18th on the UW all-time list, and only needs three more points to become the 18th player in school history to score 100 points.
The Badgers are currently enjoying their holiday break, and resume play on Jan. 3-4 at St. Cloud State.
