MADISON (WKOW) -- The state's building commission approved funding for two projects that will have a big impact in Madison: new pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center and a new shelter for domestic abuse victims.
The commission approved $9 million for two new pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center.
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi says the project will help keep shows like the World Dairy Expo and the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison.
They'll be dubbed the "New Holland Pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center" and they're expected to be completed in time for the Dairy Expo next year.
The commission also approved $560,000 for the new domestic abuse shelter in Madison.
The shelter on Fordem Avenue will be run by Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, or DAIS. It will double the amount of beds DAIS currently has and will help the organization expand its services.
