Dog rescued from Madison fire

MADISON (WKOW) -- Everyone made it out safely when an apartment caught fire in the 2100 block of E. Johnson St. in Madison Thursday afternoon.

Someone from a neighboring apartment inside the same building smelled smoke and heard the alarms and called 911.

No one was inside the apartment where the fire started, but firefighters did rescue a dog from inside.

They were able to quickly extinguish the flames they found in the bathroom.

The fire caused $25,000 in damage.

Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross provided assistance for food, clothing and lodging for the one person affected.
