Jingle Bell Run/Walk takes off for arthritis research

MADISON (WKOW) -- People clad in holiday costumes took to the streets on Saturday to raise money for a good cause.

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis took off from the Vilas Park shelter Saturday morning. Participants dressed up in their best holiday attire, complete with jingle bells on their shoelaces, to run or walk a 10K or 5K.

The event raises money for the Arthritis Foundation, which aims to fight the disease, known as the nation's leading cause of disability.

"Arthritis affects hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions of people around the world and were out here to raise awareness and hopefully raise some money for arthritis research," says Dr. Richard Illgen, a UW Health Medical Honoree.
WKOW is a proud sponsor of the run/walk. Anchor Amber Noggle emceed the event.
