Friends of Colorado high school shooter speak out

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (WKOW) -- We're hearing from friends of the teenager police say opened fire at his high school, critically injuring one student, who say he was not a loner.

Investigators believe 18-year-old Karl Pierson came to Arapahoe High School Friday to kill a staff member, librarian Tracy Murphy.

Bailey Callahan was Pierson's friend and his prom date junior year. She says she last talked to him Thursday and saw no sign of what was about to come.

"He is not a monster. He's one of the best people I knew. He's not this killer. He's Karl Pierson, he's one of the best people I know," Callahan tells ABC News.

The 17-year-old girl Pierson shot in the head before killing himself is in a coma, but in stable condition.

Claire Davis' friends have come together to raise money for her family while she's in the hospital.
