DODGE COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman killed in a snowmobile accident Sunday.
24-year-old Katie Braasch, of Lake Mills, drove her snowmobile into an open water area Sunday afternoon.
Six snowmobiles were traveling south on the frozen river when Katie drove into an open area and slid, struck some trees and came to an abrupt stop.
Katie was pronounced dead by MedFlight crews.
DODGE COUNTY (WKOW) --- A 24-year-old female from Lake Mills died after driving her snowmobile into an open water area on Sunday.
It happened at 4:21 p.m. on the frozen river next to County Highway BB.
Dodge County Sheriff's office says a preliminary investigation shows that six snowmobiles were traveling south on the river.
The second snowmobile, driven by the Lake Mills woman, drove into an open area and began a clockwise slide.
Her snowmobile struck trees near the east end of the river and came to an abrupt stop.
Officials say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by MedFlight crews.
A 26-year-old male from Sun Prairie was on the third snowmobile.
He saw the open water and jumped off his snowmobile.
The 26-year-old did suffer from severe , but non-life threatening injuries.
He was flown to UW Hospital by MedFlight.
None of the other snowmobiles were in the crash.
No names have yet been released as the investigation continues.
