MADISON (WKOW) -- It was a tense moment at the Dane County Regional Airport Monday afternoon when a 737 plane coming from Minneapolis slid off the runway while taxiing to the gate.
The plane hit a patch of snow along the runway.
"We did not stop by the end of the runway and we have exited the prepared surface just at the end of the runway off to the right," the flight crew told air traffic controllers, "I think you're going to have to send the trucks out."
Airport officials ended up bringing a bus to the plane to evacuate the 60 passengers and six crew members to the terminal. They stayed on the plane for nearly an hour.
No one was hurt.
"We just kind of hopped and then we stopped, so we looked outside and saw we were in the field and not on the runway," says Renee Rosin, who was on Delta Flight 385 when it skidded. "A lot of us kinda laughed and we were out there trying to get pictures."
Rosin says she's just glad to be on solid ground after the incident.
The slide caused delays all over the airport. Planes couldn't take off or land while the grounded plane was on the runway. Some flights were re-routed to other airports mid-air.
