MADISON (WKOW) -- Very early Wednesday morning, Monona police attempted to stop a vehicle traveling in excess of 100 mph on the Beltline.
The vehicle did not stop and a pursuit took place. The vehicle then exited at Highway 51 and within a matter of minutes, a Dane County Sheriff's deputy located what looked like the suspect vehicle traveling on Milwaukee Street at Highway 51. Before confirming the actual vehicle, the vehicle ran two stop lights and increased speed.
The deputy then activated lights and sirens, attempting to catch up to the vehicle. Again, speed increased and the pursuit ended when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, leaving the roadway and colliding with a retaining wall. This happened on Milwaukee Street in the City of Madison.
The driver, 31-year-old Kevin Gill, Jr., did not sustain any injuries. He was arrested after a short foot chase.
Gill is being charged with eluding, OWI 3rd, operating after revocation, and bail jumping. Additional charges are pending from Monona Police Department.
