MADISON (WKOW) -- This is the season of giving all across the country, but for Wisconsin residents, they give back all year long.
The state ranks eighth in the country when it comes to volunteering, according to the annual Volunteering and Civic Life in America report released by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
This year's report found that nearly 36 percent of Wisconsinites volunteered in 2012. In total, more than 1.62 million volunteers gave 165.3 million hours of service worth an estimated $3.1 billion. In Madison, the volunteer rate is 42 percent.
