Madison business gives gifts to families in need

MADISON (WKOW) -- Christmas came a little early for some families in Madison this weekend.

More than 150 children were given gifts they had asked for, thanks to the Great Dane's 17th annual Adopt-a-Family fundraiser.

This year, the local business got some extra help from other organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County. They joined in to help raise money and bring presents to those local families in need.

"It's a culmination of five weeks of hard work," says Great Dane director of operations Ted Peterson. "We have over a thousand gifts that we purchased after fundraising for 30 days, we had to wrap every single present."
The drive raised more than $45,000 this year. Families at the event Sunday also got a full course dinner and free portraits.
