California community helps replace soldier's stolen presents

LODI, California (WKOW) -- A California town is rallying behind the family of a U.S. soldier after thieves broke into his home and stole thousands of dollars worth of Christmas presents.

Army Corporal Chris Petrossian got back home Wednesday, after 17 months in Afghanistan. His house was ransacked but there's still a good Christmas ahead because people in Lodi, California are responding. About 75 percent of what was stolen has been replaced.

"Lodi is a great town. I have lived here a long and like I said, absolute strangers, complete strangers have come together. Lodi Adopt A Child gave us a whole bag of toys for her. And she went to meet Santa today and she really loved that," Petrossian says about his 4-year-old daughter, Cookie.

Cookie says she already has the best gift of all this Christmas, her dad coming home.
