Donations down for red kettle campaign in Dane County

Posted:

DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Donations to the local Salvation Army's red kettles are down this year.

The Dane County chapter hopes to raise $700,000 this holiday season, but right now, it's about $250,000 short, and the red kettle campaign ends Tuesday, December 24.

The non-profit uses the money to operate its family shelter and food pantry. It says those programs could face cuts if it can't make up the donation shortfall.

Volunteers can sign up for a kettle shift on Christmas Eve by going to ringbells.org.

You can also donate online at The Salvation Army's local website. People can also give $10 by texting TEN to 85944.
