LINCOLN COUNTY (WKOW) -- 56 puppies were rescued from a puppy mill in Merrill Sunday and now the Lincoln County Humane Society needs help taking care of them.
The shelter director says they got a call from a woman looking to give up the puppies.
Her home had been condemned and she couldn't take care of them.
Fortunately though, the puppies are in good health.
"With this situation, you know we were very lucky that we got involved when we did because with no heat in the house and very little puppies and not even a blanket in the kennel with them they wouldn't have had been as safe as they were for very long. That situation was drastically going to go downhill," says Liz Friedenfels.
The rescue drastically increased the demand on the humane society's resources.
Now they need volunteers and donations to help spay, neuter and vaccinate the puppies.
