JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police investigate a home invasion that happened late Monday night.

They were called to the 500 block of South Main Street around 11:00 p.m. for a home invasion and robbery. The suspects were possibly armed with handguns.

Two people inside the home reported the suspects knocked, but when they didn't answer the door, they suspects forced their way into the home and demanded money. The suspects physically assaulted the two residents, causing injuries to their heads and faces. They were taken to Mercy Hospital where they were treated and released.

Investigators say this doesn't appear to be a random act. Officers have developed persons of interest in the case and the investigation is ongoing.
