Hit & run witness helps police locate suspect


MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police say the witness to a hit and run accident helped them locate a suspect on Monday.

The incident happened near Highway 12 and S. Whitney Way just before noon. Police say the suspect fled in a blue Chevy Tahoe after rear ending another car. After checking on the 62-year-old female victim, police say they began searching for the suspect vehicle.

A witness followed the suspect to an area of Old Sauk Rd. and relayed that information to the Dane County 911 Center, according to authorities. Police say they were able to locate the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Christopher Eddy of Madison at a nearby hotel.

Eddy was arrested for 6th offense OWI and hit and run. Police say he had a blood alcohol content of .21.
