UPDATE (WKOW) --- MG&E and Alliant Energy say power has been restored now in their areas. They tell us it was a line to one of their substations that went down.
MADISON (WKOW) --- Alliant Energy says a transmission line went out that serves northeast Wisconsin around 12:02 p.m. Friday. They are currently working on the problem.
MG&E has about 2,900 customers in the north part of Madison and outside of the city without power.
