BBB warns fans about playoff ticket scams

GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- Tickets for the Packers' playoff game against the 49ers went on sale Monday afternoon, and experts are already warning fans to watch out for scams.

The Better Business Bureau says it's important to know the person you're buying tickets from. If you buy them online, make sure you use protected websites. "You want to make sure that you're not wiring money, you're not paying cash, you know that you know who you are buying it from and the tickets that you're buying are actually real tickets. So checking them out, double checking the seat number against the map of the stadium, things like that can help you," says Kimberly Hazen, Regional Director of the BBB.

Hazen also warns not to post pictures of your tickets online after you get them. "When you do get tickets a lot of people like to boast about it, put it on Facebook, 'Hey I got my tickets.' Well that ticket is going to have a code and those codes could be picked up by a scammer and reproduced."

The Better Business Bureau says the most common scams related to buying tickets are paying for them and they never show up, or buying fake tickets that have been reproduced.
