DODGEVILLE (WKOW) -- One man is dead and a woman is seriously hurt after a crash on Highway 18 near Dodgeville.
The Iowa County Sheriff's Office was called to Highway 18 half a mile east of County Road Q around 11:30 Monday morning for two vehicles that had crashed.
Investigators say Sally A. Brownell, 60, of Linden, was going west when her minivan traveled off the right shoulder. She over-corrected and lost control, then spun into oncoming traffic and crashed with a car going east.
The driver of the car, Leander R. Vethanayagamony, 24, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene. Brownell was taken to Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.
The sheriff's office says both drivers were extricated from their vehicles by the Dodgeville Fire Department. Both had been wearing seatbelts.
The crash is still under investigation and a reconstruction by the Wisconsin State Patrol is in progress.
