WAUWATOSA (WKOW) -- A therapist in Wauwatosa is charged with abusing a young boy with autism.

Stephen Jacobs, 27, faces a charge of child abuse by a child care provider. Jacobs had been treating 3-year-old Caden Lowe at his home in Waterford. Lowe's parents were concerned the in-home therapy wasn't doing much for their son, so they put a web camera in the basement therapy area.

According to the criminal complaint, Jacobs was caught hitting the boy, shaking him and throwing him on a couch. Lowe's mother Stephanie says she can only wonder how deeply her son has been affected. "Now there's the 'what if's' and 'how long has this been going on?' and 'how detrimental has this been?' They robbed me of knowing that I had done everything and I feel like I failed him as his mom."

The company that hired Jacobs says he was suspected and will not have contact with clients. He's due in court next month.
