MADISON (WKOW)-- Some Wisconsin landowners can get paid for making their land available during turkey hunting season.
If you live in Washington, Ozaukee, Walworth, Kenosha and Racine counties, the Department of Natural Resources is looking to pay you $5.00 per acre.
The DNR is launching a pilot program with landowners to allow turkey hunters access to their land during the Spring hunting seasons of 2014, 2015, and 2016. Landowners have until January 31st, 2014 to sign up for the program.
The agency has a preference towards properties that are at least 40 acres in size and are at minimum 50 percent forested.
