Nation braces for severe winter weather

Posted:

COHASSET, MA (WKOW) -- The first winter storm of 2014 has tens of millions of Americans waking up to a paralyzing snow storm Friday morning.

Some areas are expected to see feet of snow; many will face bone-chilling temperatures.

The storm impacting 22 states and 100,000,000 people started Thursday in the Midwest. Priming Chicago neighborhoods for some cross-country skiing and making a mess of the roads.

Three major interstates near New York City were closed to traffic overnight on Thursday, and airports across the country face more cancellations and delays.

The storm is expected to last until Friday afternoon.
