UW finalists to appear via video conferences

MADISON (AP) -- The three finalists for the University of Wisconsin System president's position are set to speak with the public through a series of video conferences beginning this morning.

UW-Extension and UW Colleges Chancellor Ray Cross, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Executive Vice Chancellor Peter Garland and Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education President Robert King are all vying for the post.

A selection committee is set to interview all three on Monday. Each finalist also is scheduled to participate in a statewide video conference that day. UW faculty, students and members of the public can interact with the finalists by visiting conference link-up sites on UW campuses around the state.

The open forums will be held at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, 330 N. Orchard St., in the Telepresence room. The sessions will be at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 6 and at 1:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 7.

The Board of Regents is expected to make a hiring decision Thursday.
