UW System President finalists in Madison for interviews

The three finalists for the UW System President position had interviews in Madison on Monday.

They all answered faculty questions from across the state via video conference.
Finalist Ray Cross, who currently serves as UW Colleges and Extension Chancellor, is promising to restore credibility to the system by being more transparent.

Cross says, "We have to rebuild those relationships with elected officials across both aisles in both houses on the federal, state, county and local levels and in every part of this state. This will require engaging our friends and our critics more often and more regularly."

RRobert King, a former New York legislature and current president of the Kentucky Council on Post secondary Education says his top priority would be rebuilding trust with the legislature.

The third finalist is Peter Garland, the Vice Chancellor of Pennsylvania's state higher-ed system.

The board of regents is expected to make a hiring decision Thursday.
