MONONA (WKOW) -- Madison Gas & Electric has restored power to all customers who lost post Monday evening.
Power was restored to everyone by 4:00 a.m. Tuesday.
At one point, nearly 900 customers had no power in the bitter cold.
UPDATE (WKOW) -- A Madison Gas & Electric spokesperson says some homes in Monona may remain without power past midnight.
MG&E has brought in additional crews working quickly to restore power to the nearly 900 customers who were in the dark Monday night in the bitter cold.
As of 11 p.m., about 300 customers remain without power. Right now, officials say they still don't know what caused the outage.
UPDATE (WKOW) -- Monona police say Monona City Hall is open as a warming shelter for people who have lost power.
The address is 5211 Schluter Rd, Monona, WI.
It will be open until all power is restored.
Police say if that becomes too crowded they will also open the community center.
Nearly 900 people lost power in the Monona Drive area Monday night.
MONONA (WKOW) -- Nearly 900 people are without power in the Monona Drive area.
According to the Madison Gas & Electric (MGE) website, the outage was first reported at 6:13 p.m. Monday. The utility company's website says it expects power to be restored around 8:15 p.m.
The outage happened at a time when the temperature in the Madison area was 12 below zero, without factoring in the wind chill.
