Madison Metro offering warming buses

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Metro buses will run as normal Tuesday, but users can expect some special services because of the cold.

Metro is offering warming buses at the East, West, South and North transfer points.  Passengers can board those as they are waiting for pick up.  They'll be available from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Depending on the weather, warming buses may also be available in the afternoon.

Metro is also running special trips from overnight homeless shelters to day warming shelters.

Those rides began just before 6 a.m. from overnight shelters at St. John's Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church to the daytime shelter at Grace Episcopal Church.

Van service will be provided Tuesday  night from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to take those in need back to the overnight shelters from Grace Episcopal.

Madison Metro is offering some travel tips for riders during this extreme cold:

  • Be sure to dress warmly when traveling.
