NEW GLARUS (WKOW) -- The New Glarus Police Department has finished an investigation of a large scale theft of funds from the New Glarus Home Inc.
New Glarus Home is a non-profit organization, licensed by the state and affiliated with the United Church of Christ.
In January 2013, the initial theft was discovered. A forensic consulting agency was retained to investigate alleged financial improprieties conducted by a 55-year-old, full time employee of the business.
Joyce Ziehli, the administrative secretary for the New Glarus Home, was found to have used her position over the past ten years to complete hundreds of fraudulent transactions. The result to be in excess of $850,000 being taken from the New Glarus Home.
Ziehli is currently being charged with six counts of theft in a business setting. She is currently schedule to make an initial court appearance Monday, January 13th at the Green County Justice Center.
Involved in the criminal investigation were officers of the New Glarus Police Department, Special Agents from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice, and Department of Criminal Investigation.
