EMBARASS, MN (WKOW) -- While most of us can't wait for the weather to warm up, there's a man in Minnesota who can't wait for it to get even colder.
He's hoping to get the record.
Roland Fowler would have had it back in 1996 at 64 degrees below zero.
But his thermometer broke when it hit 53 below.
Fowler is the official temperature recorder for the National Weather service in Embarrass, Minnesota.
He's thinking this might be his year.
"Had it wouldn't have broke, I'd have been in the ball game. So you hope for a new day."
It's been close this year, 47 below last Friday.
Fowler says he expects a record low in late January or February.
