UPDATE: Girl released from hospital after shooting incident

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Janesville police say the 13-year-old girl who was shot Wednesday inside her home has been released from the hospital

The girl's 20-year-old brother, Sidney Johnson, was visiting from out of state and believed an intruder was inside the home.  He said he heard a noise around 1:00 p.m. coming from his sister's room.

Sidney went to get one of his father's firearms and returned to the hallway, where he noticed movement in the girl's room and then the door close.  He shot through the door, striking her in the right tricep and torso.

The victim is home-schooled and was attempting to get to the laundry room, however, didn't want to see her brother in the clothing she had on at the time.  She had opened her door and peeked out, saw him and closed the door again.

Janesville police say Sidney was held on an emergency detention and is expected to be arrested for a charge of wreckless endangerment.
