Lose weight and get fit to support a local hunger-relief organization

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Fifth Annual Million Pound Challenge is about being healthy, but also giving back.

The campaign is underway in Madison right now. The Princeton Club and Second Harvest Foodbank on Southern Wisconsin joined together again to put on the fitness and weight loss campaign.

Here's how it works:

  • Pledge to exercise or lose weight.
  • Select a hunger-relief organization to benefit.
  • Record your activity weekly.
  • For every one hour exercised or one pound of weight lost, 10 pounds of food will be donated to your designated hunger-relief organization.

The campaign is open to individuals, groups and schools. There's no cost to participate or obligation to join a health club.

Dan Stein, the president and CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank, and Jake Salzman, a personal trainer at Princeton Club joined us on 27 News at 5 on Wednesday to talk about the campaign.
