Some zoo animals enjoying frigid weather

MADISON (WKOW) -- Crews at the Henry Vilas Zoo have been working hard to make sure all the animals have been keeping warm over the last few days.

They say some animals, like the aardvarks, monkeys and reptiles need a little more attention in the freezing conditions, while other animals like the seals, bison, and even the camels seem to enjoy the low temperatures.

Dr. Erin Flynn serves as the Conservation Education Curator at the zoo and says, "The animals are welcome to come back and forth and they'll choose to go out, we'll keep an eye on them and make sure everybody is being smart about it and if we need to call somebody in we can, but they go out, they play and they love it, and we make sure everybody is tucked in and nice and warm at night."

If you want to check out the animals enjoying the cold weather, the Henry Vilas Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. all year round.
