MADISON (WKOW) -- Democratic candidate for governor Mary Burke's campaign announced Thursday Burke has raised $1.8 million in the opening months of her campaign, with $400,000 being her own money.
The fundraising total compares closely to what Governor Scott Walker raised in 2009 before his election victory in 2010.
Burke is a member of the Madison Metro school board, but is a former executive with Trek Bicycle Corp. and former state commerce secretary. The run for governor marks her first statewide campaign.
She is the only Democratic candidate currently in the 2014 race for governor.
Gov. Walker is expected to seek a second term.
