Winter Weather Advisory in effect for viewing area

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of southern Wisconsin until 6 a.m. Saturday.

It includes Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Marquette, Richland and Sauk counties.

There is also a Freezing Rain Advisory for Dodge, Jefferson, Rock, and Walworth counties until 6 a.m. Saturday.

A storm system is ushering in milder air which will produce a wintry mix of freezing rain and rain this evening changing over to very light snow tonight.

Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible from the freezing rain this evening and around an inch of snow is possible overnight.

The snow will exit the region by mid morning Saturday with the next chance of a light wintry mix late Sunday evening.

Expect above average temperatures all weekend long with breezy periods and more clouds than sunshine.
