Flu cases on the rise

MADISON (WKOW) -- With flu cases approaching peak levels, local health officials are urging you to get vaccinated.
The Department of Health services says statewide, there have been 565 influenza-associated hospitalizations reported since October 5th.

And 57 of those have occurred here in Dane County.

Professor Jon Temte with the UW Department of Family Medicine says there is some good news however, "We have a very good match between the circulating virus and the components of the vaccine so people who receive the vaccine are doing the best they can to be protected from the virus. "

Health officials are expecting flu cases to rise for another several weeks before leveling off.
