Prevent Cervical Cancer during national awareness month
MADISON (WKOW) -- January is National Cervical Cancer Month.
An estimated 12,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, but it's a disease that can be prevented. Marta Staple from Meriter West Washington joins Wake Up Wisconsin Weekend to talk about prevention.
She recommends a few ways to prevent cervical cancer: get the HPV vaccine, have regular pap smear screenings and practicing safe sex, delaying first intercourse, having fewer sexual partners and avoiding smoking.
