JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The annual Martin Luther King, Jr. commemoration event in Janesville had a special focus this year on local youth.
Rock County's MLK Day featured students' diversity projects as part of this year's theme: "Youth Making the World a Better Place."
In previous years, only keynote speakers addressed the crowd, but this year teenagers from all over the area showed off their artwork and read testimonials from young people who lived through the Civil Rights Movement.
"It's very exciting. I think this is going to be the best we've ever done because there was so much excitement over it when the kids joined us this year, and they had a tremendous number of ideas, things they wanted to do," says Leslie Brunsell, an organizer.
The event was put on by the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin at Blackhawk Technical College Saturday.
