MADISON (WKOW) -- With the winter Olympics coming up soon, people in Madison are bringing the games a little closer to home.
YMCA on Madison's East side hosted the first Special Olympics Triathlon Sunday. The event allowed for people with disabilities and people without disabilities to participate in running, biking and swimming.
"What we're doing now is kinda an evolution of the organization...we're trying to provide more opportunities for interaction between people with disabilities and people without disabilities. So this give our athletes a chance to compete with others," says organizer Don Wigington.
So far those who have participated say they had a great time and look forward to next year, which organizers say is already in its initial planning stages.
