Local ski jump competition inspires Olympic hopefuls

MIDDLETON (WKOW) -- Young Olympic hopefuls showcased their skills at Blackhawk Ski Club's 67th annual ski jump tournament on Sunday.

Organizers say some of the competitors are inspired by the upcoming games in Sochi and female ski jumpers are excited for their fellow athletes to be allowed to compete for the first time in 10 years.

Two-time Olympian Kurt Stein says he got his start right here in our area.

"It sticks with you for a lifetime, so all the stuff I've learned, I would have never got there without other people's help, so now I enjoy giving back and being out on the ski hill," says Stein, now a club coach.
