TOMAH (WKOW) -- A man who police say accidentally shot himself in Tomah could face charges for illegally having a gun.
WKBT-TV reports the man is a convicted felon and therefore wasn't supposed to have a gun. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says it has referred the case to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office.
Authorities got to a Sunday afternoon call from a man who reported being shot, before the call was disconnected.
Tomah police responded to the apartment from where the call came, but the man had already been taken to a local hospital. he was then taken to a La Crosse hospital with unspecified injuries.
