Attempted robbery at PDQ while police officer was inside


MADISON (WKOW) -- A man attempted to rob the PDQ convenience store overnight, while a Madison police officer was inside the store getting something to drink.

According to the Madison Police Department, it happened about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.  A Madison Police officer was on routine patrol when he stopped at PDQ on Mineral Point Road to purchase refreshments. 

While in the back of the store, the alert officer noticed a subject enter the store. The suspect was acting suspicious which drew the eye of the Madison Police officer.

The suspect then showed a weapon to the clerk and demanded money. The police officer demanded the suspect stop. The weapon was dropped and the suspect ran away.

A foot chase lasted several minutes and the suspect was arrested. No injuries were reported.

A 34-year-old man was arrested.
