No. 2 Badgers take down Beavers 3-1 for sweep

BEMIDJI, Minn.  Senior Alex Rigsby earned her 92nd career win to pass Jessie Vetter for the most in Wisconsin women's hockey history as the No. 2 Badgers defeated Bemidji State, 3-1, Saturday, at the Sanford Center.
Rigsby, who missed the past seven games due to an injury, came back and played strong for the Badgers, making 19 saves to improve to 9-2-2 on the season.
After a scoreless first period, the Badgers capitalized on their first power play of the game, as junior Katy Josephs sent a wrister past BSU goaltender Brittni Mowat to give the Badgers a 1-0 advantage. A minute later, Wisconsin netted a shorthanded goal as junior Brittany Ammerman tallied her 16th goal of the year to propel the Cardinal and White to a 2-0 lead after two periods of play.
Bemidji State added a goal early in the third period as Alex Citrowske knocked in a rebound to make it a 2-1 contest. The Badgers added an insurance goal late in the game as junior Karley Sylvester scored an empty net goal with less than 30 seconds to go.
Wisconsin (19-3-2, 15-3-2 WCHA) outshot Bemidji State (9-13-2, 6-11-1-1) 31-20.
