CALEDONIA (WKOW) -- A coal train derailed near Racine Sunday morning. The 135-car train was headed from Wyoming to Chicago.
Our affiliate in Milwaukee, WISN, reports that the train was carrying coal when it derailed in Caledonia.
The Caledonia Fire Department says 19 cars of a Union Pacific train derailed around 7:30 a.m.
Battalion Chief Jeff Henningfeld says nobody was hurt, and there was no release of hazardous materials, but numerous cares were heavily damaged.
According to the Racine County Sheriff's Department, 5 Mile Road between Nicholson Road and Highway 38 will be closed for at least 24 hours.
WISN reports Union Pacific is working on clean up efforts and is investigating.
