DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Sheriff's deputies were called to Aaker Road in the town of Dunkirk shortly before 10:00 Monday night for the report of a snowmobile crash.
Joshua Smith, of Stoughton, had been operating a snowmobile on private property when he tried to cut between pine trees. The snowmobile struck one of the trees, ejecting the 38-year-old. Smith flew head first into one of the trees, sustaining serious injuries.
Stoughton EMS transported Smith to UW Hospital. He was wearing a helmet and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.
