JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Investigators have identified the man who died Tuesday morning in a crash on the interstate in Janesville.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says he is 37-year-old Timothy McKinley of Milton.

Troopers say McKinley's SUV went through the median and into oncoming traffic on the railroad overpass bridge along I-39/90 around 6:30 a.m. The vehicle was hit by a semi.

McKinley was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The semi driver was also taken to the hospital, but troopers say his injuries were not life threatening.

A spokeswoman for the Madison Metropolitan School District confirmed that Timothy McKinley was the dean of students at Sennett Middle School in Madison. McKinley had been a staff member for two years.

The school shared the information of McKinley's death with students Tuesday morning. It also sent a letter home to parents. In the message, principal Tremayne Clardy said the school provided opportunities for students who needed support to talk with Student Services staff from the school and from the district.
