MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- Debbie McCormick will travel to Sochi next month to compete in her fourth Olympics. And this time, she's hoping she comes home with a brand new piece of hardware.
McCormick is a member of the women's curling team and has been playing the sport most of her life.
The highest she has ever finished in the Olympics is fourth.
"To bring back an Olympic medal," McCormick said, "whether it be bronze, silver, or gold, would just be a thrill. It's been...a dream of mine to get to the Olympics and then to kind of finish it off and have all that hard work and dedication pay off."
Before heading to Russia, McCormick stopped at Sunset Ridge Elementary School in Middleton Wednesday to speak to a group of children about her journey. She brought a curling stone and broom and even had the children do a warm-up with her.
McCormick said she loves sharing her sport with young children and hopes they will be inspired to follow their dreams.
