Sheriff: Do not travel in Grant County Sunday night

GRANT COUNTY (WKOW) -- Grant County officials are asking people to stay off the roads in the area.

Sheriff Nate Dreckman says travel is not recommended throughout the county due to blizzard conditions. Authorities are attempting to reach stranded drivers. Deputies will attempt to assist those in need of help but people should stay in their vehicles and call 911.

Several semi trucks and cars are stuck on various roads throughout the county. Many roads are impassable, including sections of Highway 151.

The county highway department has pulled plows from most of the roads because they are unable to keep up with the drifting snow. Plows will head back out when winds die down later in the night.
