MADISON (WKOW) -- A downtown Madison restaurant is forced to change the name of it's Tuesday special after receiving a letter from a national taco chain.
Taco john's sent the Old Fashioned Tavern and Restaurant a legal document to immediately remove the use of "Taco Tuesday" from all menus and literature. Taco John's has held a nationwide trademark on the term since 1989, and it's been the name of the Tuesday night special at the Old Fashioned since 2005.
Robert Miller, of the Old Fashioned says, "We've always loved Taco Tuesday, its kind of what we grew up with, but our hand is being forced , we had to pull it off the menu, we reprinted the menu and changed the web site."
The Old Fashioned is holding a contest to rename their Tuesday special through February 9th. Contestants may cast their vote on the restaurants Facebook page, through a direct email or at the restaurant. Whoever coins the winning name will get free tacos for a year.
