MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin State Legislature is getting closer to passing a bill that would prohibit drivers from talking on cell phones in construction zones. The bill passed in the Senate earlier this month and the Assembly has planned a hearing, Tuesday on the Republican-sponsored measure.
The ban would only be in effect when workers are present in the construction zones. Emergency calls will be exempt from the ban. Violators of this bill could face fines between $20 and $40 for the first offense and up to $100 for a second offense.
