MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker is raising concerns that there may be propane price gouging going on in Wisconsin, and now he wants it investigated.
The governor says he talked with the Wisconsin Department of Justice about looking into that possibility, but were not able to find a specific statute that would allow them to take action on it at the state level.
Governor Walker says, "In this case, it makes sense that I and other governors in the Midwest, as well as other leaders to ask the federal government to look into this, because you've got something that's not unique to Wisconsin. You've got multiple states here in the Midwest that have very similar trends."
The price of propane has increased from just over $1 a gallon last winter, to more than $6 a gallon in some areas of Wisconsin this month.
