MADISON (WKOW) -- An audit of the University of Wisconsin System's payroll and benefits system found a risk for security breaches that could lead to unauthorized payments.
The Legislative Audit Bureau conducted the report, which was released Tuesday. The co-chairs of the legislature's Audit Committee recommend continued oversight.
The audit recommends changes the UW should make to increase security and improve operation of its human resources system.
The audit came after a previous report found the UW System made $33 million in overpayments for health insurance premiums and pension contributions between 2011 and 2013.
The audit finds the UW will lose an estimated $10.6 million to $12.7 million because of billing errors, depending on recovery efforts.
University officials say they're committed to improving the payroll system, which was implemented in 2011.
